Art is always influenced by the experiences and world views of the artist. So it seems prudent to share a little about my background in order to understand what drives my work. My family’s roots come from a small North Atlantic town in Spain. I was raised in Vancouver, mostly, and also spent some years growing up in Mexico City and New York. Eventually, I became obsessed with gaining a better understanding of people on an individual level so I studied psychology (with a minor in feminist studies) in university. During that time, I attended a Surrealist exhibition that made a permanent impression on my perception of art and I started making photographs shortly after. It's now eight years after the fact, and it still feels like that journey is just beginning.
